30 TN fishermen held in Saudi Arabia

Nearly, 30 fishermen from Kanniyakumari and Ramanathapuram districts who were working in Bahrain, were arrested and detained in Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday.

Justin Antony, Founding President, International Fishermen Development Trust (INFIDET) said, “These 30 fishermen went to fish in various boats on October 5 from Bahrain and I was informed that the fishermen were detained in Saudi.

The Bahrain government should take good efforts to get the fishermen released.” He also added that fishermen should be provided with international ID cards so that they can be treated well by the governments of other countries and their arrests can be avoided.
