26-yr-old in Tiruvallur detained for suspected links with IS

CHENNAI: The police in Tiruvallur detained a 26-year-old staff of a mutton stall for having suspected links with Islamic State. He had been under surveillance of security agencies for the last few months, who allegedly found that he was in touch with a foreign handler who radicalised him. Police suspect he was planning some sabotage in Tamil Nadu. “He was being monitored by central agencies who found that he was in regular touch with some contacts abroad. A school dropout, he got attracted to IS ideology. He is being questioned now,” police sources said. Officials have also seized the phone with which he was keeping in touch with his handler.
