21 inmates of old age home in Tiruchy test positive

As many as 21 inmates of an old age home functioning in Tiruchy tested positive for COVID-19 and they were shifted to the makeshift COVID centre in Yatri Nivaz on Saturday.

It is said, the Tiruverumbur region in Tiruchy has been witnessing a surge in the number of positive cases. In such a backdrop, one inmate from the old age home functioning at Kattur tested positive for COVID 19 on Friday and so the officials conducted the test for all 110 inmates living in the home. Among them, 20 more inmates tested positive on Saturday and so the officials from the health department, took all the 21 inmates to the makeshift COVID centre at Yatri Nivaz in Srirangam and are undergoing treatment. Meanwhile, the old age home authorities quarantined all the remaining persons in the home premises itself.
