Later, he visited the Madurai GRH and apprised the media about the efforts taken by the government to end quackery.

Special teams formed in state

He informed that special teams have been formed throughout the state to nab quacks and so far, 200 quacks were arrested in Tamil Nadu in the last one month. Out of 200 quacks, 12 are from Madurai, he said. The hunt for quacks would continue, said Kulandaisamy.

He carried out inspection at various puncture shops to check whether any source for dengue existed. The abandoned rubber tyres were also discarded.

He warned the government offices and public sector offices against dengue sources as they too would be fined for any lapse on that account. He further said that there is no scarcity of medicines in the government hospitals. “There is enough stock of medicine to treat dengue and other diseases at the GHs,” said Kulandaisamy.

Two die of suspected dengue

Sivasathivel (16), a Class 6 student from Arupukottai in Virudhunagar district, and Sridevi (20), from Thoppampatti in Madurai district, died of suspected dengue at the Madurai GRH, on Sunday.
