127 CCTVs deployed in Tiruchy city to ensure safe Deepavali shopping

The city police have established as many as 127 CCTV cameras and deputed around 700 personnel, including 100 men in plainclothes at key market spots in Tiruchy, including the NSB Road to ensure safe Deepavali shopping, said the City Commissioner of Police J Loganthan on Monday.

Inaugurating the temporary police outpost at NSB Road, the Commissioner said the state had relaxed certain lockdown norms during the festival season that would revive the economy to some extent and the people should follow the norms strictly. While the police personnel would personally oversee the business locations and involve in crowd managements, as many as 127 CCTV cameras have been installed at various spots and eight watch towers are established to monitor the entire stretch from the control room and alert the cops.
