CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu reported 419 new cases on Wednesday. The total number of cases reached over 35.74 lakh.

Chennai had 96 new cases, followed by Coimbatore with 60 cases, Chengalpattu 29, Kanniyakumari 21, Tiruvallur and Erode 20 cases each.

One death was reported. A 50-year-old man with comorbidities from Cuddalore was admitted on September 8 with complaints of fever, cough, and breathing difficulty.

And he was tested positive for Covid on September 10 and died at 2.50 pm. TN’s overall test positivity rate increased to 2.7%. Coimbatore had 7%, Chengalpattu 5.4%, Erode 4.7%, Tiruppur 4.5%, Tirunelveli 4.4%, and Chennai 2.3% TPR.

Total recoveries are over 35.32 lakh. At least 16,570 samples were tested during the last 24 hours.
