Vijay CC to meet Jolly Rovers in final

Vijay CC qualified for the TNCA first division Elite group final after getting the better of India Pistions on better run quotient and run rate after safely negotiating 50% of total overs played by their opponents in their semi-final here on Thursday.

India Pistons lost their last man in the first ball of the day to be bowled out for 458. Vijay CC started strong with KB Arun Karthik (159 not out in 250 balls, 12 fours and two sixes) and Abhinav Mukund 80 (117 balls, 10 fours) putting on 170 runs for the first wicket. 

After Mukund’s departure, Baba Aparjith (102 not out in 185 balls, seven fours and three sixes) and Arun Karthik stitched an unbroken 174 runs partnership for the second wicket to see Vijay CC through. Elsewhere, Jolly Rovers advanced to the final after gaining the all-important first innings lead over Alwarpet CC.

Brief scores: India Pistons 485 drew with Vijay CC 344/1 in 92 overs; Jolly Rovers 369 drew with Alwarpet CC 251 in 83.5 overs (Manprit Singh 67, M Kamalesh 66, J Kaushik 5/46).
