Dharan Cricket Club defeated Auschennaians by 48 runs to clinch the SM Trophy here recently. In the final played at the SM Cricket Ground, Nuthan (45), Sundar (35) and Vasu (29) contributed decently as Dharan made 180 in the first innings.

Dharan Cricket Club defeated Auschennaians by 48 runs to clinch the SM Trophy here recently. In the final played at the SM Cricket Ground, Nuthan (45), Sundar (35) and Vasu (29) contributed decently as Dharan made 180 in the first innings. Chasing 181 for victory, Auschennaians was undone by the trio of K Venkat (3/25), Aravind (3/25) and Vasu (3/25). Auschennaians’ innings eventually ended at 132, ensuring an easy win for Dharan. Vasu was given the Man of the Match award for his all-round contribution.

Brief scores: Playtonia’s Dharan CC 180 all-out in 39.4 overs (Nuthan 45, Sundar 35, Vasu 29, Yogya 3/38, Kiran 2/5, Harikrishnan 2/21) beat Auschennaians 132 for 9 in 42.4 overs (Kiran 30, Yogananth 30, K Venkat 3/25, Aravind 3/25, Vasu 3/25).
