USA, Mexico book their tickets for the Qatar World Cup

The USA (25 points from 14 matches) finished third despite being beaten 0-2 by Costa Rica in San Jose on Wednesday while Mexico (28 points from 14 matches) registered a 2-0 triumph over El Salvador in Mexico City to come second overall.

The United States of America and Mexico secured their World Cup tickets by clinching the last two automatic qualifying places from the CONCACAF region.

The USA (25 points from 14 matches) finished third despite being beaten 0-2 by Costa Rica in San Jose on Wednesday while Mexico (28 points from 14 matches) registered a 2-0 triumph over El Salvador in Mexico City to come second overall.

Table-topper Canada (28 points from 14 matches) had already qualified for Qatar 2022 on Sunday.

Both the USA and Mexico had all but sealed their World Cup berths last week, but completed the formalities on Wednesday.
