Earlier, S Shanmugam, Joint President (Manufacturing), Sankar Nagar Plant, The India Cements Limited, unveiled the coveted trophy of the third edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League at the ICL Sankar Nagar Ground in Tirunelveli on Wednesday. 

Chennai Super Kings CEO KS Viswanathan also graced the occasion. “People from Tirunelveli and the adjoining districts are very eager to witness the action. There are very huge demands for tickets and we are trying accommodate as many people as we can,” Shanmugam told the gathering. 

Cricket hogged the centre-stage thereafter as the captains of the inaugural match walked out for the toss. India’s premier off- spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is leading Dindigul Dragons while Baba Indrajith is captaining Ruby Trichy Warriors. The coin favoured Ashwin who chose to bat first. 

Next up, the captains of the eight TNPL franchises took the Spirit of Cricket pledge and then autographed a cricket bat. The pledge is the symbol of devotion to fair play and true spirit.
