A clinical bowling performance by the Panthers helped them notch up their first win of the season.

After restricting the Panthers to a small target, Super Gillies failed to replicate a good performance during the chase. The openers struggled to get them off to a start and the middle-order batsmen couldn't get going as well.

Lack of partnerships and wickets at regular intervals has derailed the Panthers in the first innings. The first over of the game produced drama as Arun Karthik was dropped before his opening partner got out to M Ashwin.

Karthik didn't make the most of that drop and a cameo from Kousik towards the end gave his side a defendable score. On the whole, it was a good bowling performance by the Super Gillies even though the catching and fielding could've been better .

Brief Scores: Chepauk Super Gillies 127/10 (S karthik 28, Gannga Sridhar 24; Varun Chakravathi 3/16) lose to Madurai Panthers (153/9) by 26 runs
