Huddersfield take point against 10-man Brighton

Huddersfield came from behind to claim a valuable point in a 1-1 draw on Saturday with Brighton & Hove Albion who played the final 20 minutes with 10 men after Davy Propper was sent off.

Only bottom side West Bromwich Albion have a worse record than Huddersfield this year and the visitors almost got off to a disastrous start when Propper was free on goal but the Dutchman somehow contrived to shoot wide with barely a minute gone.

Neither side had scored for more than a month but this game never looked like ending goalless and Brighton took the lead in the 29th minute when Jonas Lossl limply parried Solly March’s shot on to the post only for the ball to rebound into the net off the unfortunate keeper.

Another costly mistake, this time by Brighton, quickly followed when Shane Duffy hit a terrible back pass straight into the path of Steve Mounie, who duly scored his ninth goal of season and Huddersfield’s first in the league for 427 minutes.

When Propper saw red for a challenge on Jonathan Hogg in the 74th minute, Huddersfield scented a rare away victory but they could not make their numerical advantage count.
