Hockey World League Final: Argentina beat India in semis

Argentina rode on a penalty corner strike by Gonzalo Peillat to defeat India 1-0 in the semi-finals of the Hockey World League Final here on Friday.

Hosts India were beaten 1-0 by Olympic champions Argentina in the semifinals of the Hockey World League Final in Bhubaneswar on Friday, with Gonzalo Peillat’s goal in the second quarter proving to be the difference. 

India had started the match brightly in the first quarter, but the South Americans stepped up a gear in the second quarter and took the lead through a penalty corner.

India had two penalty corners in the game, but failed to convert either of those.
