Chess Olympiad: Tamil Nadu govt makes payment to FIDE

With 100 days to go for the 44th Chess Olympiad, which is scheduled to be hosted at the Four Shots by Sheraton in Mahabalipuram from July 28 to August 14, the Government of Tamil Nadu has made the necessary payment to the FIDE (International Chess Federation) as per the agreement.

The Tamil Nadu government is the major sponsor of the global chess event. “On Monday, the Tamil Nadu government issued a cheque to FIDE as per the agreement signed,” an official told IANS on conditions of anonymity. The official said that the planning work is going on, adding that tenders would be issued soon.
