1st Nishimura Cup in the city

Arakawa Stanly Wado Kai India and Seiji Nishimura David Karate Do Academy are jointly organising the Nishimura International Cup for the first time in the city.

Two-time world champion Sensei Nishimura and Arjuna awardee Bhaskaran (Body building) flagged off the tournament at the Montfort Auditorium here on Saturday. “I am glad to be part of the first Nishimura Cup in India. I strongly believe the event will help young talent learn, practice and promote individual health and sport,” said Sensei Nishimura. Around 1000 athletes, from different states, will be involved during the course of the three-day competition. The contestants will fight it out under eight different categories – Sub-junior boys, Sub-junior girls, Junior boys, Junior girls, Senior boys, Senior girls, Veteran men and veteran women.


First day results:


Sub-junior boys: Gold - Amizh Thiniyan (Tamil Nadu); Silver - Surya (Tamil Nadu)


Sub-junior girls: Gold - Divyanshi (Tamil Nadu); Silver – B Janith (Andhra Pradesh)  


Junior boys: Gold - Bhagath (Kerala); Silver – R Tharun (Tamil Nadu); Bronze - Krishsiva (Tamil Nadu)


Junior girls: Gold - Chetna Yedge (Maharastra); Silver - Jeysree Akshaya (Tamil Nadu); Bronze - Patricia Posy (Tamil Nadu) & Lakshanya Parkav (Maharashtra).
