Jaya was ardent devotee of Goddess Chamundeshwari

Late TN CM J Jayalalithaa, who passed away in Chennai, is considered as the ‘Daughter of Mysore Soil’, and was known as an ardent devotee of Goddess Chamundeshwari.

She had been worshipping the Goddess, been a frequent visitor to the hill shrine. She had offered special poojas for the well being of the people of the country and TN. She visited the temple as CM for the first time in 1991, again in Sept 2003 after she became CM for the second time, and in Dec 2004. Three months ahead of the assembly polls, she offered special prayers here on her birthday, on February 24, 2011.
