How can you go against law of the land? Guv to Mamata

Coming down heavily on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for saying that she would not allow the Citizenship Amendment Act to be implemented in her state, Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on Friday wondered how she could go against the law of the land which has been adhered to.

"Citizenship Amendment Act has been gazetted now. It is the law of the land. The chief minister has taken oath to uphold the law of the land...How can you go against the law of the land?" said Dhankhar.

Banerjee during the day reiterated that her government would not allow any NRC exercise or implementation of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) in the state, calling it "divisive" and announced state-wide protests from Monday.
