The incident has been caught on camera and is doing rounds on social media.  Rane  was arrested by Maharashtra Police on Thursday. Nitesh Rane is the son of former Maharashtra CM Narayan Rane.

The MLA and his supporters accosted the sub-engineer, Prakash Shedekar, and questioned him on the bad condition of the roads. The video shows Nitesh Rane pushing the engineer after which his supporters tied the engineer to the railing of the bridge which he had come to inspect. After outrage from all quarters against the incident, Narayan Rane apologised for his son’s actions. “I apologise for my son’s act of pouring mud on a government official. The protest was for the local people,” the former chief minister said.
