Actor Kalabhavan Abi passes away

Leading Mimicry artiste and actor Kalabhavan Abi passed away at a private hospital following brief illness, on Thursday.

He is 52 and survived by his wife and three daughters.

He was under treatment for drastic fall in platelet counts following dengue fever, which later caused to his death, sources said.

Abi, a mimicry artiste, brought to fame with his comedy character of Thatha and acted over 50 films.

Besides this, his ability reproduce the sound of Bollywood Super Star Amitabh Bachchan, was widely accepted and he had lent his voice to Malayalam version of commercials acted by Mr Bachchan.

Kireedamillatha Raajakkanmar, Aniyathiprave, Mazhavil Koodaram and Rasikan were some of the noted films he acted.

Abi entered the film world through "Nayam Vyakthamakkunnu," directed by Balachandra Menon and the last one being "Karutha Sooryan," to be released soon.

Malayalam film industry condoled the death of the actor.
