A sweet beginning to wear helmets

Palakkad Traffic Police has devised a novel way to enforce the wearing of helmets.

Palakkad

In a first, Kerala's Palakkad tackled non-helmet bikers by distributing Laddoos. The laddoo was a bit bitter as it was a red flag for charging a penalty of Rs 1000 from the next day, if non-wearing of helmet is repeated.

This novel idea was chalked by Palakkad's Traffic Enforcement sub-inspector M E Mohammed Kasim. Kasim said that the result was overwhelmingly positive.

The team  of cops chose to be present in mufti to avoid riders from getting intimidated. It was reported that in a span of 45 minutes 150 laddoos were distributed harking that disobedience to traffic rules was alarmingly bad. But Kasim was hopeful that this formula will bring about a positive result.
