700 kg Gutka seized from Omni bus, 5 arrested in Dindigul

The Gutka seized is of worth Rs 1.50 lakh. The car and mini trucks used for the smuggling were confiscated.

Acting on a tip-off about Gutka smuggling in an omnibus, Dindigul SP Sakthivel, along with police force started to secretly track the Omni buses coming from out stations.

Knowing about the police monitoring buses, the smugglers did not stop the bus at Dindigul and stopped it at Annamalaiyar Mills Colony. They tried to load 700 kg of Gutka from the bus to another car and mini truck. To their surprise, Ambathurai police surrounded the scene.

Omni bus driver Gunasekaran from Omalur and Parthiban from Salem were arrested for smuggling Gutka. They also arrested Bugari from Dindigul, Saadhiq Baasha, Maulana on the smuggling case.

The Gutka seized is of worth Rs 1.50 lakh. The car and mini trucks used for the smuggling were confiscated. The Ambathurai police are carrying out an intensive investigation further on the case.
