Having been raised in a family with environmentally conscious parents, it was only natural that she followed in their footsteps. 

However, her parents didn’t realise how serious she was about it till she mooted the idea of the forest in schools. “We face a lot of problems with the indiscriminate felling of trees and I thought the right way to tackle the situation is to have forests in schools. 

Fruit forests will also give schoolchildren access to healthy and naturally grown fruit, as against the injected ones with chemicals and other additives available in the market,” she said. They have tied up with CommuniTREE, a green initiative to implement the idea with crowdfunding. So, far her initiative has raked Rs 50, 000 and they are in talks with two schools. 

Prasiddhi attributes her love for the environment to her early exposure to gardening. “I have a small garden at home and I have always been planting saplings across forums,” she added. She plans to begin her mission of planting the saplings from January 2019. As she aims to plant around one lakh saplings, the idea is to reach out to more schools who would be interested in the project from Chennai or any other city.
