Speaking to DT NEXT, the 20-year-old electrical engineering student says that he was confident about his performance, but he did not expect to be one of the top scorers.
“I had joined CAT a year ago but seriously started preparing only a month before the examination. Solving the mock papers was helpful and I did that every day from 9 am and 12 pm. Also, to make sure that I did well in the English section, I read books and focussed on the subject a month before the examination.”
Now he hopes that he performs well in the remaining rounds. “I haven’t started preparing yet. I hope I perform well in the upcoming rounds of Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview. My dream is to get into Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. I have already landed a job during the placements. If I get through IIM-A, I might let go of the job,” says Praneeth, who wishes to join a leading firm.
He says, “To run a successful company and to have people working under you, one needs to have management skills. Technical skills may not be enough. There is no better place than IIM to get the right management training.” His father is a businessman in Anantapur village and mother a homemaker. He says, he will prepare for the further obstacles at the CAT coaching institute he has been going for a year. More than 1,99,000 took the exam, out of which 20 candidates have scored an overall 100 percentile. Apart from Sai Praneeth Reddy, the other 100 percentile scorers are Meet Aggarwal from Surat, Patrick D’Souza from Thane, Vishal Vohra from Kolkata Pramod Beri from Chandigarh and others.
