The police identified the deceased as Kalaivani, the wife of Senthil Kumar. Senthil’s uncle, Raman, who lives next door often complained that the drumstick tree at Senthil Kumar’s house is brushing over a TV cable and disrupting visuals. While Raman had asked Senthil to cut the tree, he did not oblige. On Thursday, after a heavy wind, the cable snapped, police said. Angered over this, Raman barged into Senthil’s house while Kalaivani was alone. In the middle of an argument, Raman stabbed her with a kitchen knife. Though neighbours rushed her to a hospital, she was declared dead on arrival. Raman surrendered at the police station on Friday morning.
