Woman, dog injured in fall as duo snatches gold chain

A woman riding a two-wheeler and her pet dog suffered injuries after falling down from the vehicle when two unidentified men snatched her four sovereigns in Vyasarpadi on Sunday. Her daughter who was riding pillion escaped without injury.

The incident happened when Ramani, her 19-year-old daughter and their pet dog were on their way to a relative’s house in Choolai on their two-wheeler. As they were proceeding, a bike-borne duo began trailed them. When they were passing by Dr Ambedkar Government Arts College in Vyasarpadi, the men snatched her chain. Ramani lost balance of the two-wheeler, and all three fell on the road. Police said the woman and her dog sustained injuries, while the daughter escaped.


Meanwhile, the snatchers escaped from the spot immediately, before anyone could intervene.


Passers-by immediately contacted the police control room to alert them about the incident. Following this, MKB Nagar police rushed to the spot and admitted Ramani at a nearby private hospital. A hunt has been launched for the snatching duo and further inquiry is on, police said.


Minors held for theft:


Meanwhile, Kasimedu police detained four minors in connection with a burglary at a mobile phone service centre, and seized three mobile phones and a laptop from them. The incident happened on Friday at Kasimedu. Based on the owner’s complaint, police combed the CCTV footage and identified the suspects.
