Woman, daughter held for stealing 23 sovereigns

Swift action by policeman helped a 60-year-old woman sleeping on Chennai Moore Market Complex EMU station platform to recover her 23 sovereigns and also nab the suspects, a mother and her daughter, who were sleeping near the victim on Saturday night.

The victim, Yasodha Natarajan of Guduvanchery, decided to take rest at the platform number 15 of the station as she could not return home due to the rains. 

She slept after hiding 23 sovereigns of chain in her sari pallu, but when she woke up in the night she found the gold missing and two persons sleeping near her were also missing. She raised alarm and TN Special Police constable Selvaraj acted swiftly and nabbed the suspects, a 34-year-old woman and her 15-year-old daughter, natives of Pune, Maharashtra. The gold was seized after which they were remanded in judicial custody.
