VIT inks pact with London varsity on fee waiver for PhD

The Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) would be offering several PhD fee waivers to students and staff of Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT University), from this academic year 2017-18.

A VIT release here today said, under an agreement signed, QMUL would offer three full PhD waivers per year to qualified students and staff from VIT University who apply for a PhD degree at QMUL’s faculty of Science and Engineering. Successful candidates would cover their living expenses through self-funding, or funding from VIT University, in line with cost of living guidelines set out by the UK Visas and Immigration. Professor David Sadler, QMUL Vice Principal (International) said ‘’we are delighted to welcome staff and students from VIT into our PhD programmes. We are sure they will benefit and enrich our inter-disciplinary research community here, will over the time help us further strengthen our.’’ VIT Pro-Vice Chancellor V Raju said ‘’we are very proud of the partnership arrangement with QMUL,’’. ‘’Now we have provisions for VIT students to undertake the first two years of the study for the bachelors in engineering at VIT and transfer to QMUL to complete the requirements for the QMUL degrees.  VIT’s masters students can opt for second year of study at QMUL and complete the requirements for two masters degrees simultaneously’’,  he said.
