Owing to the intermittent rains in various parts of the state in the past few weeks, the migratory birds were continuously approaching the place prompting the officials to open the door. Meanwhile bird watchers have demanded the officials to monitor the place. KVRK Thirunaranan, founder, The Nature Trust, says “It is a happy news that the forest department has taken such a decision based on the huge arrival of birds at the sanctuary,” he says. The sanctuary would usually be open in November month but, this year, the forest department had diverted water from Valaiyaputhur lake to Vedanthangal.
