Van-lorry collision in Ennore leaves one dead and nine injured

Hunt is on for the lorry driver who escaped right after the accident.

CHENNAI: In a horrific incident in Chennai's Ennore, a van collided with a container lorry leaving one dead and nine injured.

Nine workers in an Eicher van were leaving from the fifth entry of the Kattupalli harbour. While attempting to negotiate with a container lorry at the Thiruvottriyur-Ennore expressway, both vehicles collided with each other.

All those, except one, in the van were injured and rushed to the Stanley government hospital in a 108 ambulance. However, Thoothukudi's Erolins Stephen (35) was fatally injured and died on the spot.

The Washermenpet Traffic Investigation Wing has lodged a complaint and is searching for the lorry's driver who fled the spot after the accident.
