Vain bid to rob Tasmac cash near Adyar

A 29-year-old man allegedly forming a part of a gang, which attempted to rob a vehicle carrying Rs 50 lakh collected from TASMAC shops, was arrested on Friday near Madhya Kailash.

Police sources said a security van that was carrying money from certain TASMAC shops and had to deposit it at designated banks was proceeding towards Guindy, when a gang intercepted the vehicle and threatened the driver at knife point. 

Following the commotion, public rushed towards the vehicle, but the gang escaped. The alert public managed to nab one them and handed him over to the police. The person has been identified as Mohammed Ibrahim (29) from Sharma Nagar, working with the same security agency that collects the money. 

Kottupuram police have registered a case in this regard.
