Unable to find cash, burglars spirit away 4 costly bottles from Tasmac shop

Unidentified burglars who gained entry to a Tasmac shop in Mahabalipuram by breaking open the shutter lock on Wednesday night left with just four bottles of liquor and police suspect that the target of the gang must have been cash and not liquor.

The supervisor of the shop who reached the premises on Thursday morning was shocked to find the shutter half-open. He audited the stock and was surprised to find only four liquor bottles worth Rs 5,000 together missing. Later, the boxes of the bottles were found behind the shop. On information, Mahabalipuram police registered a case and have launched a hunt for the suspects. Since the supervisors have been advised not to keep the daily collection in the outlets, burglars could not lay their hands on the cash, said police. However, a case has been registered and the Tasmac authorities were instructed to install CCTV cameras.
