Two youths held for stealing mobile phones in Puzhal

Based on Udayakumar’s complaint, Puzhal police registered a case and launched a manhunt for the youth.

CHENNAI: Police on Friday arrested two youths who sneaked into a house in Puzhal and fled with nine mobile phones.

Police said that S Udayakumar (48) of Kathirvedu in Puzhal has taken a contract for Storm Water Drain (SWD) works in the area. He had rented a house in the Balaji Nagar area in Puzhal, where he stayed along with his workers.

During the early hours of Friday, at least three youths had sneaked into the house and stole the mobile phones, which the workers had kept near their pillows and fled.

Based on Udayakumar’s complaint, Puzhal police registered a case and launched a manhunt for the youth.

After perusing CCTV footage, police zeroed in on the suspects and later in the day, arrested M Hari Shankar (19) and S Ganesh (20) of Thiruvottiyur. Police recovered eight mobile phones from them. Hunt is on for one of their absconding accomplices.
