The deceased were identified as V Madasamy (60) of Cholan Nagar and B Jaishankar (50) of Senthil Nagar in Tirumullaivoyal. The police said that the duo was working on building a staircase at Madasamy’s house on Aadiyapatham Street. The incident occurred at 10.30 am and they reportedly died on the spot. The Tirumullaivoyal police rushed to the spot and sent their bodies to Kilpauk Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination. Investigation revealed that the power cable was connected to the adjacent house. A case has been registered and further investigation is on. Reports said the workers were drilling earth to build the foundation of a staircase when the accident occurred.
