Police launched a search for the women after the shop owner R Babulal (43) lodged a complaint with the RK Nagar police alleging that two women, who came to his shop on Friday morning posing as customers, had taken away a box of nose studs weighing around 32 grams. Police collected the CCTV footage from cameras fixed in the shop and obtained other details about the accused.

They nabbed Sudha (35) and Lokanayaki (54) in the city. Police said the accused already had cases of theft registered against them at Kumbakonam.

Police said accused Sudha was the wife of Loganayaki’s brother and they had been committing similar thefts in different parts of the city.
