Two locked houses burgled in suburbs

Two locked houses in Pallikaranai and Selaiyur were burgled on Saturday night, and gold and cash were reported missing.

The first incident happened at the house a lawyer, Ramarathinavel in Chitlapakkam. He had gone to his native in Devakottai many days ago, said the police. On Saturday evening, his neighbours noticed that his house was broke open. They informed Ramarathinavel, who rushed back to Chennai to find at least 15 sovereigns and Rs 12,000 were missing. He has lodged a complaint with the Pallikaranai police. In the second incident, intruders gained entry into the house of one Shanmugham, who runs a studio in East Tambaram, and escaped with valuables.
