One of the missing girls (both 17 years old) was rescued from Kadambur on June 30, while the other girl was rescued on August 6. They were lodged in a private hostel registered under the District Social Welfare Department at Madanagopalapuram. According to officials, the teens who were rescued from minor marriages would be sent to registered homes until the formalities were completed.

However, the girls were missing from the home since Sunday. On Monday, the home warden lodged a complaint with Perambalur police, who have launched a search for the girls.
