Two get life sentence for watchman murder

A local court on Friday sentenced two persons to life imprisonment for murdering a watchman and cutting his body into pieces in 2010

Delivering the judgment, Salem Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Jothijayaram said Nirmalkumar and Manikandan had in an inebriated state, murdered Kulandha Gounder (60) on August 28, 2010. According to the prosecution, after snatching a motorcycle from a passer-by, the duo had taken the corpse with them, chopped it into pieces and threw the body parts at different places. The court sentenced them to life imprisonment on charges of murder and 10 years for the crime besides three years for snatching the motorcycle. A fine of Rs 3,000 was imposed on each of the accused.
