Two feared drowned in Kosasthalaiyar river

Two men who went fishing in the Kosasthalaiyar river near Manali New Town on Sunday are feared drowned. Niwas (22) and Ajith (21) of Vyasarpadi were washed away in the flow of the river when they were fishing with fishing rods along with six other friends.

Police said Niwas slipped into the river first and Ajith jumped to rescue Niwas, but both went missing. On information, Manali New Town police and personnel from Fire and Rescue services rushed to the spot and launched a search operation. However, they could not be traced till Sunday night. Meanwhile, a guest worker, who was washed away in the Kosasthalaiyar river near Minjur on Sunday, was rescued by the Fire and Rescue team after two hours of struggle. The incident happened in Seemapuram village, said police.
