Two Chennai colleges win Connect Hackathon 2018

Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Tamil Nadu e-Governance Agency organised - Connect Hackathon 2018 - at Tech Mahindra, Sholinganallur, Chennai, recently.

A team from Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College, Coimbatore, Saveetha Engineering College and Rajalakshmi Engineering College won under the Artificial Intelligence, Analytics and Mobility Category respectively. 

Winners were presented the Chief Minister’s Award for Excellence in E- Governance at CII CONNECT 2018 – India’s premier ICT annual event organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry in partnership with the Government of Tamil Nadu. 

Around 135 teams registered through an online portal in the CII connect website; of the 135 teams, 37 teams were shortlisted for the final event by a jury jointly chaired by the CII Members and TNeGA Officials. 

The objective of the Hackathon was to create excitement for professional and student developers to build solutions around a “Digital DNA” and to foster the local ecosystem. 

The participants came with an idea, solution and attempt to realise it during the Hackathon. 

The event reportedly had a good response from colleges across Tamil Nadu, with a majority participation from colleges in tier 1 and tier 2 cities. 

The team applications underwent a first round of evaluation by a jury jointly chaired by the CII Members and TNeGA Officials. 

The evaluation criteria, included novelty of the idea, complexity, clarity, feasibility, readiness, practicability, and sustainability, scale of impact, user experience and potential for future work progression.
