The incident took place a few days ago but came to light only on Sunday after a video of the receipt went viral on social media. Truck driver Muthuselvam of Gandhigramam in Karur had gone to Palani with his family and when he was on his way back, he was stopped by the police at the Eriyodu Cross Road.

After verifying his documents, the police fined him Rs 100 for not wearing a helmet and issued a receipt. Muthuselvan initially did not check the receipt as he was in a hurry to get home. However, when he checked the receipt later, he was shocked by the entry.
