Trio tries to flee after snatching mobile phone, one arrested

The victim, Noor Mohamed (26) of Mylapore, was talking to his friend on Dr Besant Road- Dr Natesan Road junction around 12.30 am when the bike-borne trio snatched his phone worth Rs 26,000 and tried to flee.

As Noor Mohamed raised an alarm, a night patrol team of SSI S Poonjolai, driver V Yogaboomi and Home Guard K Ramesh, who were nearby, chased the trio. When the police intercepted the bike, all three men fell on the road and ran in different directions.


The police managed to secure one of them, who has been identified as Karthik (23) of Okkiyam Thoraipakkam. The bike and six mobile phones were seized from him. While he was remanded in judicial custody, a hunt has been launched for two other suspects identified as Pura (23) and Veera (25) of Okkiyam Thoraipakkam.
