Amjath (32) of Bharathi Salai in Chepauk was caught while selling IPL tickets for the upcoming match between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders for a higher price.

They seized 13 tickets, each worth Rs 1,300. The premium hospitality tickets are priced between Rs 5,000 and 6,500. The minimum price of tickets is Rs 1,300 for C, D and E stands (lower tier), which is sold at the counter. It is also limited to two per person.

However, many cricket fans noted that several touts got counter tickets, when they were issued on April 2. While the officials claimed that there was no separate queue for women, several women in and around the stadium formed a queue on the other side of the counter and bought tickets. With Chennai Super Kings returning after two years ban, there is severe demands for the tickets, with Rs 1300 tickets being sold at Rs 5000 to Rs 6000, said sources.
