TN police issues show-cause notice to YouTuber ‘Savukku’ Shankar

Shankar who was with the DVAC was placed under suspension in 2010 following an inquiry in connection with the alleged audio tape leaks between a former state intelligence officer and DMK party functionary.

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu police has issued show cause notice to Youtuber ‘Savukku’ Shankar seeking explanation as to why should he not be terminated from uniformed service, after he is serving jail time in a contempt case initiated by the Madras High Court’s Madural bench. Shankar who was with the DVAC was placed under suspension in 2010 following an inquiry in connection with the alleged audio tape leaks between a former state intelligence officer and DMK party functionary. The notice was issued to Shankar through prison officials, but Shankar refused to accept it, sou, sources said. Following this the prison officials pasted the notice outside his prison cell in the central jail. During his period of suspension, Shankar had been receiving subsistence allowance.
