Three new judges sworn in

Three new judges - N Sathishkumar, N Seshasayee and RMT Teekaaraman- were sworn in at the Madras High Court by the Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul on November 16.

The newly appointed Registrar General R Sakthivel read out the warrant of appointments issued by the President of India following which they were sworn in. Judge Satishkumar who had enrolled as an advocate on October 14, 1992 commenced his practice in Nilgiris. He was appointed as a district judge in 2004. He last held the post of Registrar General, Madras High Court.  Seshasayee who began his practice in Nagercoil bar was appointed as District Judge on June 6, 2005 and had served in Chengalpattu, Tirunelveli, Madurai, Coimbatore and Salem. He had also served as Registrar at the Madurai bench of the Madras High Court. Teekaraman was selected as district judge by direct recruitment in 2004.  After serving as district judge in various parts of Tamil Nadu, he last held the post of Member Secretary in Tamil Nadu State Legal Services Authority. With the appointment of the three judges, the sitting strength of the court has increased to 57, against the total sanctioned strength of 75.
