The accused took the victim, who was playing on the street, to a secluded place on Tuesday and allegedly tried to have penetrative sex with the child. 

Hearing her cries, the passersby rescued her from the teen boy and handed him over to Ponneri all-women police.

A case has been registered under Pocso Act and further investigation is on.
