Teacher murder accused commits suicide inside prison

The accused in the teacher murder case, Ilayaraja (29) committed suicide inside the prison on Wednesday. Initial reports suggests that he committed suicide by hanging inside the remand prisoners' block.

Anna Nagar police had arrested Ilayaraja after he mowed down his lover Nivedha (47), a divorcee who was working as a High School teacher at a government school at Pollachi as he doubted that she was going to dump him for another youth.

Ilayaraja, who works with the Tamil Nadu fire and rescue department at Coimbatore had been in love with Nivedha for last six years. He got married to another girl about a year ago but continued his relationship with Nivedha. He became jealous when another youth Ganapathy (33) became close to Nivedha after becoming friends on Facebook.
