An official statement here said the coastal circuit in Tamil Nadu envisages development in the coastal areas of Chennai, Mamamallapuram, Rameshwaram, Manapadu and Kanniyakumari among others, with a total project cost of approximately Rs.100 crore has been approved.
Sound and Light Show, development of Beach amenities, construction of a pedestrian bridge connecting Vivekananda memorial with the Tiruvalluvar statue in Kanniyakumari are the major highlights of the project, the statement said.
Apart from this, under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme, the Central sanctioning and monitoring committee has approved Rs 100 crore for the development of the heritage circuit in Madhya Pradesh, Rs 83 crore for the heritage circuit in Uttarakhand, Rs 70 crore the for Ramayana circuit in Uttar Pradesh and Rs 95.50 crore for the North East circuit in Sikkim.
