Tambaram gets its new Air Commodore

Air Commodore S Shrinivas (right) on Monday assumed command of the Air Force Station, Tambaram. He took over from Air Commodore Rippon Gupta, a PIB (Defence) release here said.

The Handing Over and Taking Over parade was conducted at the Air Force station, it said. A graduate from the National Defence Academy, Shrinivas was commissioned into the fighter stream in 1987 and is a Qualified Flying Instructor with over 4100 hours of experience in various fighter and trainer aircraft, the release said. 

“In 2010, he was the Chairman of Technical Evaluation Committee and Field Evaluation Trial Team to select the basic trainer aircraft,” it said, adding, his last appointment was as the Chief Instructor (Flying) at the Air Force Station here. “He is a keen golfer and takes interest in outdoor games,” the release said.
