State-wide celebrations as Jayalalithaa turns 68

Several top leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Governor K Rosaiah and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, greeted Chief Minister and AIADMK leader J Jayalalithaa as she turned 68 on Wednesday.

The Prime Minister, who wished her over phone, later tweeted: “Birthday wishes to Jayalalithaa ji. May Almighty bless her with a long life, filled with good health.” 

Governor Rosaiah heaped praise on Jayalalithaa and credited her with making the state a ‘model’ one. “Your rich acumen, wisdom, dynamism and affection towards the people have made Tamil Nadu a model state for people’s welfare projects. I wish you a long, happy and healthy life in your mission to steer Tamil Nadu to greater heights,” he said in a message to the Chief Minister. 

Meanwhile, AIADMK workers celebrated their leader’s birthday with usual enthusiasm organising a host of events. All ministers attended special prayers in places of worship while mega feast and distribution of welfare measures were undertaken by AIADMK workers at different places in various districts across the State.
