School takes back 15 Lankan kids

Following the reports of 15 Sri Lankan Tamil students, maintained by a NGO in Achirupakkam near here, being removed from their school for want of nationality certificates, the Kancheepuram Collector Gajalakshmi intervened on behalf of the affected students and ordered the authorities to make necessary arrangements to continue their education.

Hence, the school management asked the students to attend classes from Monday onwards. 

On Saturday itself, the ‘Q’ branch police and local inspector investigated the process of obtaining of permission for the students for staying in the hostel of the NGO run by the Sri Lankan brothers. 

Earlier the DRO of Madurantakam conducted an enquiry with the students in their hostel. 

Earlier, reports said that they had been suspended by the private school which feared default of payment of tuition fees. Nearly 55 students in the hostel are studying in various schools around Achirupakkam.
